In 1893, in Canterbury, England, Agnes, a 64-year-old nun who has dedicated most of her life to the Church, lives and serves within the ancient walls of Canterbury Cathedral. Alongside her younger and less experienced companion, Margaret, Agnes observes the strict routines and traditions of monastic life while uncovering the unusual situations that occur there.
